2008 Carolina’s ProStart® Student Invitational

It was all hands on deck, when the entire team of Coach’s Low Country Brands™ joined the Hospitality Association of South Carolina - South Carolina’s Lodging & Foodservice Trade Association in making the 2008 Carolina’s ProStart® Student Invitational, the best ever. The Carolina’s ProStart® Student Invitational is a joint venture between the hospitality associations of both; South Carolina and North Carolina. On January 28 & 29, 2008; 36+ student teams participated in three (3) event categories, including; Culinary, Management and the new Coach’s Low Country “High School” Recipe Challenge, at the Sheraton Myrtle Beach.

Student teams from across both states; worked all year, to prepare for the state competitions. The students showed great sportsmanship, composure and professionalism throughout the extreme competition.  Students placing in the top 3 places, collectively earned $750,000.00; in post secondary - college scholarships.  

The winning teams in both Culinary and Restaurant Management will compete at the National ProStart® Student Invitational, in San Diego on April 24 – 26, 2008.

The winners of the Coach’s Low Country High School Recipe Challenge will also receive a grant of $750.00; to be used in their classroom, from the Joe and Kristina Crosby Education Foundation, in September 2008.
