For the past 18 years; through the South Carolina Department
of Commerce, the South Carolina Rural
Summit has been devoted to the rural
development of South Carolina. The summit brings together policy makers, community
development leaders, economic development professionals and a host of others to
share ideas, expertise and experience for improving communities throughout the state
of South Carolina.
The summit took place at the Clemson Conference Center and Inn, on the Clemson University
campus, in Clemson SC, on March 2 – 4, 2008. Kristina and Joe Crosby, founders –
the T-60 Grill® and Coach’s Low Country Brands™ were recognized and honored with
the Individual Initiative Award, for
the significant contribution they have made; within their county and state. Through
their business’ they have not only created multiple employment opportunities for
people living in their county; they are also committed to using vendors from their
own state, as part of their business model. The Crosby’s are also very committed
to supporting community education through the Joe and Kristina Crosby Education
